financial aid

The United Sports Foundation recognizes the need to raise funds to support sport involvement at both club and community levels. Because of this, there are several sport-specific programs that all fall under the United Sports Foundation Financial Aid Program.

The Bob Masi Financial Aid Scholarship was initially created to help support soccer families in need of financial assistance with athletic tuition fees. Over the years, this has expanded to include field hockey, baseball, and softball.

Bob Masi was a father of three former Seacoast United players who lost his battle with cancer several years ago. His sons Joe, Michael, and Eric all went on to captain their collegiate teams at Stonehill College, Bates College and the University of New Hampshire respectively.

In addition, the Jeni Plender fund was created in the name of a Bedford, NH soccer player who lost her battle with cancer, and is meant to help support soccer players from the Bedford, NH area.

All those seeking financial aid, from any geographical area or sport, must apply following the steps and requirements listed below. The scholarships help support eligible families within the Seacoast United Sports Club footprint with partial payment of their travel sports club fees. The United Sports Foundation does not offer any “full scholarships” to play sports.

ABOUT BOB MASI

The Bob Masi Scholarship was named in honor of Bob Masi many years ago.  Sadly, Bob lost his battle with cancer at that time but not before leaving his mark as a wonderful person, coach, and devoted father and husband.

All three Masi boys played for Seacoast United and each of them have the distinct honor of being captains at their respective colleges.  Joe Masi was captain at Stonehill College, Michael Masi at Bates College, and Eric Masi at the University of New Hampshire.  Their ability, leadership, sportsmanship, and competitive edge on and off the field is a credit to how they were brought up by their parents and a wonderful tribute to Bob’s devotion to his life as a father, player, and coach.
